What do professional bartenders, a water bottle designer and a physical therapist have in common? They all contributed to an ergonomic liquor bottle packaging design for spirits brand owner, The 86 Co. The bartender-friendly bottle promotes efficiency, decreases the potential for repetitive stress injury and encourages re-use for other mixology projects when empty.

The design provides three rims at various levels – top, middle and bottom – to make pulling the bottles and pouring easier for bartenders with different hand sizes and pouring styles. The design process included hands-on sessions with bartenders and the physical therapist to observe ways to make the job of pouring drinks safer and to capture general input from users.

The label is made to peel off easily without tearing, revealing a measurement scale that makes the empty bottle useful for making and/or storing drink mixes. The cap is also designed with ease-of-use in mind.

Four spirits from The 86 Co. come in the new bottle design: Aylesbury Duck Vodka, Caña Brava Rum, Fords Gin and Tequila Cabeza.
