Wolfgang Puck Coffee recently adopted recyclable packaging — EcoCup pods from Mother Parkers Tea & Coffee. The company said it switched over to the recyclable single-serve pods to reduce the amount of waste going into landfills.

The recyclable pods consist of a plastic cup, a proprietary filter material and a foil lid. Consumers can peel off the lid, discard the used coffee grounds and recycle the plastic cup.

Wolfgang Puck Coffee Partner Don Stoulil said:

“We chose EcoCup as it is an environmentally friendly solution for the traditional K-Cup brewer. It is the first of its kind, and we are excited to be part of the Mother Parkers team and what they bring to sustainability and innovation.”

Although a recent study found that single-serve coffee creates less environmental impact than traditional coffee, coffee pods have still received criticism for the amount of waste they produce. Several single-serve coffee brands have adopted sustainable packaging alternatives. For example, Rogers Family Coffee has developed sustainable coffee pods made from bio-based materials .
