Patrón has announced a limited edition tin collector’s gift box for the global retail travel market, i.e. duty-free stores. Each box contains a bottle of the ultra-premium tequila brand. The company turned to its Mexican heritage for packaging design inspiration.

Designed by Mexican artist Verónica Villarreal Sada, the Patrón Silver Mexico tin features the Aztec gods Quetzalcóatl and Tonatiuh against a bright pink background. The design uses bright colors found in traditional Mexican prints and patterns. A representation of the ancient Aztec calendar is depicted on the side of the tin.

In addition to duty-free stores around the world, the limited tin will also be available at select liquor stores across the US and Mexico starting in autumn. Past special edition Patrón tins took packaging design inspiration from Chinese New Year and specific locations including London and Australia.

Global Travel Retail Director John Kilmartin said:

“Duty free is always the perfect marketplace to offer exclusive and eye catching products and packaging. Mexico is not only home to our tequila, it’s also a top tourist destination and we’re excited to offer travel retail shoppers this unique opportunity to purchase a unique keepsake from one of the most beautiful regions in the world.”
