A new startup called Yellow Images aims to save time for package designers. The service previews custom packaging designs on premade mockups and templates of jars, bottles, tubes, and pouches, eliminating the need to create packaging images from scratch.
Launched by a group of young designers, Yellow Images provides PSD files with packaging images that already include the appropriate highlights, shadows and masks, as well as a designated layer for the design. According to Yellow Images, the mockup provides a realistic, high-quality image that accurately depicts how the package design would look in the real world.
According to Yellow Images, some mockups include multiple images of the packaging form at different angles, including front, back, side and top views. Since individual design elements exist on different layers, designers can recolor separate parts of a design. One custom packaging design can be displayed on several different packaging forms to preview an entire production line, the company said.
The mockups and templates are available via an online marketplace. The stock includes mockups for a number of packaging categories including food, beverages, cosmetics, household, medical, clothing and media. According to the company, the team updates the site weekly with new mockups. Yellow Images offers to create a new mockup for free if it cannot be found in its marketplace.
