Connecticut-based Standard-Knapp has announced its new packaging system, the Model 333 Vanguard Wrap-Around Packer. Vanguard features a stainless steel tubular frame, clustered lubrication fittings, servo-driven flow and pneumatic-driven handling.
The packaging system can handle a variety of packaging products including cans, bottles (plastic or glass) and cartons, as well as tubs, multi-packs and aseptic packs. Depending on the product and packaging, Vanguard claims to run up to 30 cycles per minute. It was also designed to run for long, continuous operations.
Its wrap-around packing process is comprised of four main steps: packing, folding, gluing and compression. First, suction secures the tray while the product drops directly onto it. Next, the top flap hinge is guided down as the tray moves to the gluing area. Once in the gluing area, multi-cavity glue heads spray hot glue onto the front and side flaps. Lastly, pneumatic pistons press the flaps together to create a seal.
