Chobani has launched a new packaging label design for its line of Simply 100 Greek yogurts.

The new packaging emphasizes the natural and healthful properties of the brand. According to Chobani, Simply 100 is the first ‘light’ Greek yogurt made only with ‘natural’ sweeteners—Stevia, monk fruit and evaporate cane juice. According to the new packaging, the yogurt provides protein and fiber, has no artificial preservatives and contains 75 percent less sugar than regular yogurt.

The new packaging features the phrases ‘Only natural non-GMO ingredients’ and ‘Our ingredients are certified non-GMO.’ Although the new design labels the product as non-GMO, the yogurt still does not meet Non-GMO Project qualifications, as Chobani cannot guarantee that its milk comes from cows fed non-GMO feed. Chobani’s website reads, “There is simply not enough non-GMO grain for farmers to feed their dairy cows.”

According to Chobani, sales of Simply 100 Greek yogurts have grown 25 percent in the first five months of 2015 versus the same period last year, while unit sales are up 28 percent. Along with new packaging, the new yogurts will feature ‘blended’ formulations as opposed to the previous fruit-on-the-bottom styles. The brand will also feature new flavors to combat consumer “flavor fatigue,” according to chief marketing and brand officer Peter McGuinness.
