New Hot Food Packaging from Huhtamaki Helps Food Cook and Retain Heat

When popular food chain Pret A Manger decided to specially package its on-the-go hot food, UK packaging company Huhtamaki met that need with a unique collection of Hot Food packaging.
Andrew Shepherd, sales director of Huhtamaki BCP said:

“With eating-on-the-go a popular and convenient choice for many of Pret’s customers, the development of these innovative new Hot Food products – which have been designed exclusively for Pret – has been exciting for us, and has seen us work alongside Pret’s Development Chefs to create a range of food containers that satisfy the demands of the ‘grab n go’ food culture for both the caterer and the consumer.”

For example, Pret’s macaroni and cheese products are cooked within the Hot Food Box before it is placed on hot shelves. The specifically manufactured box allows for package-to-food heat transfer without overcooking and features a separate base and lid for portable consumption.

There is also a Hot Food Wrap, which is designed to retain heat so that wraps taste as though they have just been taken out of the oven. For convenience purposes, the Hot Food Wrap features a tear-off strip so the wrap inside can be eaten from the bottom without mess.
Finally, Huhtamaki created a Hot Food Tray to serve warm croissants. The tray features a visibility factor to improve point-of-purchase appeal.
