Ballwin, Mo.-based Anchor Packaging, Inc. has launched a new eco-friendly food packaging line under the MicroRaves® trademark—the “WAVE” series. The line includes three lids—domed polypropylene, domed RPET and flat RPET—and polypropylene bases in 16, 24, and 32 ounce sizes. Anchor suggests these containers for applications such as ready-to-heat meals in supermarkets and takeout meals from restaurants.

According to Anchor, the WAVE containers are made with a natural mineral additive, reducing the use of petroleum-based resin by 40 percent. Anchor also said that the dishwasher-safe bases and polypropylene lids promote consumer re-use. The two RPET lids are made with FDA-approved post-consumer recycled content, and all of the bases and lids can be recycled curbside, said Anchor.

The three bases and the vented, polypropylene dome lid were designed to withstand temperatures up to 230 degrees Fahrenheit in warming units, under heat lamps or in the microwave. The polypropylene lids also include Clear Guard™ technology to prevent fogging caused by condensation. According to Anchor, this technology maximizes hot-case merchandising opportunities for retailers and eliminates takeout order errors for foodservice operators. Similarly, both RPET lids include cold anti-fog technology.
