Tri-Star Packaging plans to unveil its new eco-friendly food packaging at the Lunch! Show this September in London. According to the UK-based company, its Eco Street compostable containers are made from bagasse, a fully-compostable and renewable sugar cane pulp.
According to Tri-Star, it designed the Eco Street line for hot and cold food such as pasta, curry, noodles and salad, making the containers ideal for street food vendors, cafés, takeout restaurants and caterers offering on-the-go meals.
The Eco Street line is available in round, square and rectangular options with various depths. The containers are available with ultra-clear heat resistant rPET lids made from recycled and recyclable materials, the company said.
Tri-Star will also introduce a new line of kraft brown packaging it calls ‘Taste’ for carry-out foods. The Taste line—which includes fluted packs for hot wraps and sandwiches, food-to-go boxes with integrated lids and windowed pizza boxes—keeps food hot for longer, according to the company. All of the Taste packs are also recyclable, Tri-Star added.
Managing Director Kevin Curran commented:
“Street food is on-trend right now and it’s time that packaging caught up. Our new Eco Street and Taste containers provide perfect solutions for eating on the move and will keep hot food hot even in the coldest weather. They’re also perfect for chilled food, so there’s no need to double up on your inventory, which is important for street food vendors as they always have limited space.”
