Menasha Packaging Co., LLC showed off its PharmaTailing™ merchandising platform at the recent NACDS Total Store Expo in Denver. The company described PharmaTailing as a product and service that enhances packaging for retail displays in pharmacies.

According to Paul Murphy, Menasha’s Senior Director of Retail Sales and New Business Development, PharmaTailing uses the company’s beacon-enabled merchandising platform to connect shoppers with pharmacists when they need more information about the displayed product. He said that the platform works in tandem with its smart retail displays.

The company said that any retail display can be enabled with the PharmaTailing beacon technology. Menasha also helps companies design packaging for retail that complement its point-of-purchase displays.

Austin, Texas-based Shelfbucks provides PharmaTailing with technology that allows pharmacists to connect to patient health records and make in-store OTC product recommendations. Pharmacists also have access to product reviews and ratings for curated content, Menasha said.

Murphy said:

“Shelfbucks provides the enabling technology, which allows the displays to share valuable product information with the shopper and enable the connection with pharmacist. When a shopper encounters a smart display they have the option to acquire curated content about their limiting condition and the therapeutic value of the products being displayed to aide in symptom management. The platform also enables the shopper to seamlessly request a pharmacist consult in store.”
