ButterflyCannon has designed luxury packaging for Tanqueray No. TEN premium gin. Tanqueray appointed the London-based design agency to create a “glamorous gift box” that complements the limited edition gin bottle and evokes the spirit of the holiday season.
The box’s front showcases a large illustration of the No. TEN bottle, decorated with Art Deco-inspired design elements taken from the Tanqueray brand. Green foil highlights the design and complements the color of the gin bottle. The box also features subtle citrus and martini-inspired illustrations printed in silver on white metal finish. The embossed designs create a tactile effect.
ButterflyCannon Creative Director Jon Davies said:
“This is our first gift pack for Tanqueray No. TEN, so the pressure was on to deliver something really special. But by staying true to the brand’s core DNA and codes, the team was able to create an iconic piece of packaging that strikes the perfect balance between a contemporary design aesthetic and the 1920s glamour that is at the heart of the brand.”
Several other liquor brands have created unique, art-inspired packaging for limited edition products. As part of its ‘Artist Series,’ Ballantine’s Scotch whisky plans to collaborate with a different artist every year. For 2015, the Chivas Brothers-owned brand teamed up with album artist Leif Podhajsky to create limited edition designs inspired by the Scottish landscape. Hennessey’s V.S Limited Edition cognac features an artist-designed glow-under-blacklight bottle. This year’s Patrón Tequila limited edition collector’s tin features a design inspired by Mexican heritage.
