The IFT Annual Meeting & Food Expo will take place July 11-14 at McCormick Place South in Chicago. According to its website, the event attracts more than 20,000 food science and technology professionals, making it the industry’s largest gathering of ingredients, equipment, processing and packaging suppliers.
The event offers almost 100 sessions and over 1000 technical research presentations divided into tracks including food chemistry, food safety and defense, professional development, sustainability and sensory science.
Special ‘Hot Topic Sessions’ focus on new issues such as Validation of Pasteurization Processes for Low-Moisture Foods and Transparency in the Food Industry: Keeping Consumers Informed. Additionally, two Research Presentations & Poster Experience sessions will feature research results presented by academic faculty, followed by poster presentations on the same topic.
This year’s presentations include a CEO panel, “Is Big Food, Bad Food?”, a “Women in Food Science” business panel and “FutureFood 2050: The Art of Producing a Science-Based Documentary.”
The 2015 expo will feature the “IFT Transformation Lab: Protein and the Body,” an exhibit that showcases the impact of food in the body. According to the IFT, this interactive, team-based exhibit allows participants to engage all five senses.
