Toy manufacturing giant Hasbro has released its 2013 Corporate Social Responsibility report, which emphasizes its increased use of sustainable packaging.
In the category of environmental responsibility, Hasbro’s report notes the elimination of polyvinyl chloride in favor of polyethylene terephthalate in product packaging. Hasbro has also used recycled materials or sources that practice sustainable forest management for 85 percent of its paper packaging. The goal is to increase this figure to 90 percent by 2015. Another significant sustainable packaging innovation cited in the report is a new product to packaging volume ratio of no more than 5 to 1.
