A new flexible packaging pouch from Pactech Packaging–USA and Presto Products Co. features a child-proof yet easy-to-open slider. The Medi-CRREO Child-Resistant (CR) Pouch has passed the requirements in Title 16 CFR 1700 of the Poison Prevention Packaging Act (PPPA).
Pactech and Presto note that the product uses child-resistant technology from traditional rigid containers and applies it to flexible packaging in an innovative way. It also offers less product and package waste and can be reused by consumers, according to the companies.
The pouch creators said it can be used for a variety of products, including household chemicals, agricultural products and pharmaceuticals. The pouch sizes are scale-able and range from 8.5 x 5-inch to 13.5 x 18-inch with or without a stand-up gusset.
The pouch design offers an easy opening solution for senior citizens, especially for those suffering from arthritis and other medical conditions. Also important, the packaging provides sufficient protection for children. Theoretically, the pouch provides an ideal option for medication packaging.
The Medi-CRREO Child-Resistant pouch won a 2015 DuPont Award for Packaging Innovation. The DuPont Awards judges also honored the pouch for Excellence in Technological Advancement and Enhanced User Experience.
