Ocean’s Halo Seaweed Chips, the first product from, San Francisco Bay-area New Frontier Foods Inc. uses a bio-based, eco-friendly packaging by Genpak from Innovia Films. The flexible package, called NatureFlex, is derived from wood pulp, and provides barriers to oxygen and moisture. This was an important consideration in order to protect the product’s crunchiness and shelf life. NatureFlex is certified compostable.

Ocean’s Halo’s co-founder Mike Shim told Package Design Magazine:

“When we were faced with packaging choices, we were 100 percent committed to choosing compostable bags because it’s the right thing to do. Health and sustainability is one of our pledges to our customers and compostable bags are an integral part of that pledge.”

Ocean’s Halo is a natural foods company that produces organic foods free of GMOs, trans fats, MSG, and artificial ingredients targeted to health-conscious consumers.
