European packaging equipment supplier Ishida has launched a piece of X-ray machinery with the capability of revolutionizing poultry and meat packaging. With the capacity to detect small bones at a high speed, this technology allows for a comprehensive quality check for meat processing manufacturers. Because chicken meat and bone, for example, have very similar density, differentiation has proven difficult until this point. Using a self-learning Genetic Algorithm technology, the system can also check for product or packaging deformations and estimate their weight and length.
