In what sounds like science-fiction technology, Candian company think4D Inc. is ready to take the packaging industry by storm by means of “4D” design. Described as “touch-friendly” by Packaging Digest, this innovative approach incorporates pressure-sensitive labels, tactile inks, even scratch ‘n’ sniff. Think4D president of sales Jeffrey Hayet refers to this patented technology as having “Wow Factor,” citing consumer trials and research as evidence that shoppers are, in fact, quite drawn to it. In fact, research done by Rochester Institute shows that 80 percent of the time, test participants believed think4D technology added to the product’s value, and on average, they would pay 50 percent more for a product packaged with it.
